Christine Parizo, Editor
The driving force behind SMB Soup, Christine Parizo is an experienced journalist and B2B technology copywriter. As the principal of Christine Parizo Communications, Christine writes white papers and case studies for B2B technology companies and feature articles for business and technology publications. Her love of entrepreneurs has extended her business to limited engagements writing website copy, brochures, press releases, and other marketing materials for small businesses, particularly in the software and health and fitness industries.
Christine got her start as a journalist covering enterprise technology, back when clouds were things you’d watch on lazy, breezy days. She served a stint as a legal technology specialist and small business technology troubleshooter before returning to her two favorite things, writing and B2B technology.
Christine lives outside Houston with her husband, two children, and a very spoiled house cat. When she’s not writing copy or analyzing software, she can be found blogging about health and fitness at Run Out of the Box, running half marathons, hefting barbells, or drinking coffee.
Merrilee Hale, Creative Director
If you can imagine it, Merrilee can create it on the Internet or old-fashioned page. As the Creative Director for SMB Soup, Merrilee does more than make sure the site looks pretty. She’s the maven behind the code, the WordPress Wizard that keeps SMB Soup piping hot.
Merrilee is an experienced creative director, programmer, and educator. She’s been immersed in programming languages since the days of BASIC, an accomplished graphic designer, and an adjunct faculty member in Springfield, Massachusetts. Currently, she’s the Creative Director for Avant Creative, LLC, a collective of digital innovation enthusiasts, branding experts, and evangelists and volunteers time as Assistant Director for the Bing Arts Center in Springfield.
When she’s not wrestling code or designing beautiful, functional websites and branding materials, Merrilee can be found sculpting, delving into theoretical physics, and shooing a cat or two off the countertops.
